Caroline Hopper - Independent Management Consultant
Caroline has twenty-five years of managerial experience with the statutory and voluntary sectors. As an independent management consultant and coach, Caroline works principally within health and social care.
Profile
Caroline is particularly interested in increasing capacity and capability in organisations; developing leaders to improve performance; and enhancing responsiveness and engagement across organisations and communities.
From 1992 – 2007, before working freelance, Caroline worked in the National Health Service in London, Surrey and Sussex for Health Authorities and Primary Care Trusts in a range of general management roles.
For twelve years, Caroline was an Executive Director on NHS boards where she held responsibilities including: Commissioning; Human Resources/Organisational Development; Performance Management; Communications; Partnership working across Sectors; Patient and Public Involvement; and Equality and Diversity.
Prior to the NHS, she worked in the voluntary sector, local government and academic departments where she addressed a wide range of social policy and organisational development issues. These included: community care, women’s health and childcare issues, working with older people and with communities affected by HIV/AIDS.
Recent and current clients include: the Healthcare Commission; Brighton and Hove City PCT; East Sussex County Council; general practice (GP) partnerships; Gatwick Detainees Welfare Group; and the London Borough of Newham.
Caroline is a Tutorial Fellow at the University of Sussex, and a Visiting Lecturer at Brighton Business School; Brighton and Sussex Medical School and the University of Brighton.
Achievements include
- Devising and delivering organisational development programmes for teams, boards, organisations and across sectors
- Expert facilitation and enhancement of learning and communication within and between stakeholders: including engaging staff, boards, elected representatives, patients/clients, carers and the public
- Providing coaching, mentoring and personal development support
- Project work and report writing for national and local bodies
Qualifications
- BA (Hons) in Philosophy and Literature – University of East Anglia
- Postgraduate Diploma in Social Policy and Administration - London School of Economics
- Master of Business Administration (MBA) - Roffey Park Institute (University of Sussex accredited).
